A unique, comprehensive, error-proof and trustworthy testing procedure Most awards for photographic equipment are based on reviews from one or a number of magazines or websites. However, few details are revealed to the public and the industry about testing procedure, selection of candidates, nomination criteria and final awards decisions. DIWA Awards has developed a unique testing procedure that we proudly present to the public as it takes away the guesswork and secures error-proof, non-biased, reliable and trustworthy results. Although all DIWA members are free to publish their reviews in their own style and language, they are also obliged to comply with the DIWA testing system. This testing system is based on a number of DIWA scoreboards, available for various product types. For digital cameras, there are three charts, dedicated to "Amateur", "Advanced" and "System" cameras. More than 200 details must be checked, measured and evaluated, each detail weighted according to its importance for the camera type. The finished charts are then collected by DIWA's Test Manager for control and comparison, to rule out human error or imperfect product samples. The average score from a minimum of four DIWA tests, representing the overall performance of the product, decides the value of the award. Only superior products will receive a Gold Medal award while Silver goes to excellent products missing a few points for top overall ranking.
